Zerocash, an evolution of the Zerocoin protocol, is a cryptocurrency that provides privacy-preserving transaction features. It leverages zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive ARguments of Knowledge (zk-SNARKs) to enable users to conceal the sender, recipient, and amount in transactions. Zerocash, which came about from a collaboration of researchers and is instantiated in Zcash, offers strong privacy guarantees while ensuring transactions remain compact and verifiable by the network in milliseconds, addressing limitations present in its predecessor Zerocoin.
