Stellar is an open-source network for currencies and payments. Stellar makes it possible to create, send, and trade digital representations of all forms of money—dollars, pesos, bitcoin, and pretty much anything else. It is designed to enable low-cost financial services to improve access and inclusion for the world’s unbanked populations. Developed by the Stellar Development Foundation, the network is powered by the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP), a Federated Byzantine Agreement (FBA) algorithm that facilitates Decentralised control, low latency, flexible trust, and asymptotic security. Stellar’s native digital asset is Lumens (XLM), functioning as a bridge currency for cross-border transactions and an anti-spam measure.
