Friday, 11 September: price recovers, flows go flat
12 to 13 September
The real story: XRP’s ETFs never went red.
Wall Street is beginning to use XRP ETFs as collateral
What it means

XRP closed the day at $1.417 and is currently trading at $1.39, as Monday comes to an end. It hit an intraday low of $1.32, and while Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana ETFs have had red days this week, XRP’s funds have had an outflowless week with one day of no activity. Here’s what happened.
XRP closed at $1.4171 on Tuesday, a gain of 1.46%, and at $1.3952 on Wednesday, a loss of 1.55%, while ETF flows painted a more stable picture than price movement. On Tuesday, some $1.55 million of inflows landed within Franklin Templeton’s XRP fund, and on Wednesday, some $12.29 million in inflows, the strongest day of the week, landed.
XRP fell to $1.3338, a loss of 4.40% and its worst single-day down move and a low close of the week. ETF flows ignored the price falling, and inflows continued, totaling $5.14 million.
On Friday, XRP opened at $1.3349 and an intraday low of $1.3187 followed, but it closed at $1.3563, gaining 1.69% and getting back above $1.35. The opposite of what occurred with XRP and the price, ETF flows landed at exactly $0.00, a day when the net flow was neither positive nor negative, the first flat day in the fund complex's run.

Over the weekend, XRP closed at $1.3664 on Saturday, an increase of 0.74%, indicating further recovery. On Sunday, the rest of the market, and XRP, fell around 1.60% to $1.3445. This indicates that XRP, along with other cryptocurrencies, was now feeling the effects of the Fed’s more hawkish stance.
XRP fought to trade around the $1.39 region to close the week, which helped close the weekly gap, but still remained below $1.40, which it last closed above on Tuesday.
This is the distinguishing factor for XRP among the other four tokens for the week. Spot bitcoin ETFs had four straight days of losses during this period. There were red days for spot ether and solana ETFs as well. XRP’s five spot ETFs, tracked by SoSoValue instead of Farside (which has stated they have no plans to build an XRP-specific flow monitor), posted no outflow days from Tuesday to Friday. Friday’s closing flow was exactly $0.00, indicating a pause rather than a reversal in the outflows. Overall, the four days totaled an inflow of $18.98 million, taking cumulative inflows after market launch to $1.70 billion.
On Tuesday, XRP was the only crypto ETF category in the whole market to have an inflow of capital, and all other crypto ETF categories had outflow days, including: Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Hyperliquid, and other XRP-related ETFs.
Per Charles Schwab’s September 8 SEC filing, Wall Street is beginning to treat XRP ETF shares as collateral in repo agreements. Approximately $11.4 million worth of ETF shares was assigned to this particular pool.
It’s a small amount, but this is a new development and presents a new way of using XRP. XRP exposure is typically used as posted collateral in the repo agreements. Collateral is used to secure trades in traditional finance, so this was never a viable option without ETFs.

A week-defining level was $1.40. XRP closed above that level only once, on Tuesday. The other 6 days of the week, XRP closed below that level. The true floor of the week was $1.3187, Friday’s intraday low. All other levels were above this level.
Like the other three coins, XRP is also heading into the CLARITY Act’s Tuesday cloture vote and the Fed’s own decision without a confirmed direction. However, XRP’s ETF complex is going into this without a bad week like bitcoin, ether, and solana, as no money was withdrawn all week.
