Between 28 September and 4 October, XRP moved sideways and was largely unaffected by outside events. The sideways movement ended on Wednesday 7 October, with a 5.05% decrease from Tuesday’s close. As of Sunday 4 October, XRP was trading at $1.5202, a weekly gain of 0.27%.

Despite the sideways price movement, interesting developments occurred underneath the market. ETF inflows slowed but kept a positive flow for 12 consecutive weeks. October’s escrow release was uneventful. Additionally, an XRP treasury company, Evernorth, moved a step closer to a Nasdaq listing. Here is a more in-depth look at what happened over the period.

    Monday 28 September

The first day of the quarter-end week started with XRP dropping 1.29% to $1.4966. Trading for the day occurred between a low of $1.4712 and a high of $1.5321. Inflows into the XRPC ETF totalled $3.96M, and it was the only fund to see inflows.

    Tuesday 29 September

XRP opened at $1.4966 and spiked to the week high of $1.5593, but gave it back and closed down 0.41% at $1.4904, after a low of $1.4679. ETF flows were flat.

    Wednesday 30 September

The quarter ended with XRP at $1.4900, down 0.03% on the day in a range of $1.4853 to $1.5422. That is up roughly 43% from the close at the end of June, at around $1.04. ETF flows were flat again.

Many news outlets are reporting an end-of-quarter gain of over 48%. This number uses a $1.54 price from just before the close of the quarter. We used the official close price.

Thursday 1 October: Q4 opens, escrow unlocks

XRP closed up 0.28% at $1.4942, between $1.4756 and $1.5100. ETFs added $4.07M, the biggest inflow of the week.

It was also escrow day. Ripple released its 1 billion XRP, as it does every month. Within hours, 700 million XRP were put back into escrow, in two transactions of 400 million and 300 million. The market has become used to this and rarely moves the price.

Friday 2 October: Jobs report whipsaw

A weak U.S. jobs report caused a choppy day in the markets. XRP swung between $1.4507 and $1.5495, and closed the day down 0.64% at $1.4847. The low of $1.4507 was the floor for the week.

ETFs saw a $3.28M outflow, the only day of the week to see a negative flow.

Saturday 3 October: The quiet day

XRP closed the day up 0.11% at $1.4863, in a range of $1.4795 to $1.4958. It was the calmest day of the week.

Sunday 4 October: The best day of the week

XRP climbed 2.28% to $1.5202, in a range of $1.4856 to $1.5238, closing the week above where it started.

ETF flows: slower, but the streak continues

According to SoSoValue, the U.S. spot XRP ETFs had net inflows of $4.74M from 28 September to 2 October (+3.96M, 0, 0, +4.07M, -3.28M). This makes 12 consecutive weeks of net inflows. By fund, Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ had net inflows of approximately $4.07M, Canary’s XRPC had net inflows of approximately $0.78M, and Bitwise’s XRP ETF had net outflows of approximately $0.10M.

The number looks relatively small compared to previous weeks, but inflows still outnumbered outflows, making it a positive sign. For the past 12 weeks, inflows have outnumbered outflows, which shows a positive trend.

    Evernorth heads to Nasdaq

Evernorth Holdings announced in an SEC filing dated 6 October that its merger with Armada Acquisition Corp II will close on 9 October. Shares will then begin trading on Nasdaq on 12 October under the ticker XRPN. An XRP dedicated treasury company will then be listed on a public market, allowing investors to buy shares of the company directly. This, in addition to the XRP ETFs, will provide another way to get exposure to XRP.

    XRP Ledger upgrades

Updates to the XRP Ledger continue. CoinDesk reported that on 8 October, PermissionDelegationV1_1 activated. It lets one account give another account narrowly defined permissions, such as making payments, without handing over its keys. This allows businesses and financial institutions to delegate payment tasks while keeping control of compliance functions. Another update, Batch V1.1, which bundles up to eight transactions, was reported as possibly following around 9 October. It may take time for enough validators to support the change and stay above the activation threshold, so consider the date an estimate until it actually happens.

Extended window: 5 to 7 October

The first two days of the new week were relatively uneventful:

    Monday 5 October: -0.82% to $1.5077 (high of $1.5309, low of $1.4874).

    Tuesday 6 October: -0.71% to $1.4970 (high of $1.5229, low of $1.4911).

    Wednesday 7 October: -5.05% to $1.4215 (high of $1.4994, low of $1.4108).

Trading volume nearly doubled on Wednesday compared to Tuesday, and the whole market was down. Bitcoin, Ether and Solana all fell, with the Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes due, oil above $100, and an estimated $550M to $700M in crypto positions liquidated. There was no XRP-specific negative news on Wednesday.

On Tuesday 6 October, spot XRP ETFs took in $3.14M, so funds continued to buy ahead of the drop.

    What it means

Support: $1.41 (the 7 October low) and $1.45 (the 2 October low).

Resistance: $1.52 to $1.56, topped out by the $1.5593 high on 29 September.

Week in numbers: high $1.5593, low $1.4507, close $1.5202, up 0.27%.

Full window: down 6.24% since the 27 September close, with a low of $1.4108.

From a bullish perspective, the XRP Ledger continues to add institutional features, ETFs are in their 12th consecutive week of inflows, Q3 gained roughly 43%, and Evernorth’s listing is just around the corner. The 7 October drop was likely the rest of the market pulling XRP down. The next thing to watch is whether $1.41 holds when XRPN starts trading.
