Solana's Week. A New ETF Record, a Friday High, and Alpenglow One Day Away
Ethereum's Week. A $2,800 Rejection, Five Straight Days of ETF Inflows, and a Quiet Quarter-End

SOL finished at $111.06 on September 20, and by the end of the day on Monday, it had risen to $118.96, a gain of 7.02% and its highest level since January. The rest of the week brought further moves. Here's what happened next.

Monday, September 21: Rally to January Levels

SOL opened at $111.19 and quickly moved higher, closing the day at $118.96, a gain of 7.02% and an intraday high of $119.96. The move was coincident with a broader market rally that lifted Bitcoin to more than $87,000. Solana ETFs also opened the week with more than $26 million in new capital, with the Bitwise ETF (BSOL) receiving more than $14 million of that capital.

          Tuesday, September 22: Sideways

SOL pulled back slightly, losing 0.34% and closing at $118.56. Solana ETFs continued to see new capital, with more than $28.9 million in new capital on the day.

          Wednesday, September 23: Sharp Pullback

SOL lost 2.99% and closed at $115.01, its steepest single-day decline of the week. ETF capital inflows for SOL also pulled back to $13.7 million, the smallest of the week, though the streak stayed unbroken.

          Thursday, September 24: Rally Resumes

SOL gained 1.77% and closed the day at $117.05. ETF capital inflows more than doubled to $32.8 million.

September 25th: the Week's Best Day

Solana got a strong day this Friday, shooting up 4.37% and closing at $122.16. It touched an even higher intraday high of $122.85, the actual peak for the entire week. ETFs focused on Solana also shot up with investors pumping in a record $86.7 million in a single day. This brought the week's total to $188.21 million.

          SOL/USD daily closes, 21 to 27 September 2026

Solana eased back for the rest of the week. Bitcoin saw its own Iran-related volatility this weekend, while broader crypto markets stayed relatively quiet. Solana slipped slightly off its weekly high, closing Saturday at $121.45 and Sunday at $121.39. One company also disclosed it bought 101,381 SOL, worth more than $10 million, pushing up its holdings to about 2,490,600 SOL.

What Alpenglow Means, After This Window Closes

We are now just one day away from Solana's Alpenglow upgrade. We reported on this upgrade last week and put the target date for this upgrade as the 28th of September. This particular upgrade improves the finality of transactions on the Solana blockchain by reducing the time required for a transaction to be finalized from 12.8 seconds to just 150 milliseconds. The improvement in finality would make Solana's settlement time virtually instantaneous. Final validation of the upgrade continued on the Solana public test network through the last week of September.

          What this means

From its Monday low of $110.88 to its Friday high of $122.85, SOL rose by 10.80% over the course of the week. The improvements in the ETF of Solana-based assets this week have also gained more attention than both Ether and Bitcoin's own ETF weeks in relative terms. During the week, the ETF gained $188.21 million and extended its inflow streak to 12 weeks. Friday was the best day for the ETF since its inception. Improvements in the ETF and the approaching Alpenglow upgrade mean SOL has many positive forces at work.
