What actually drove the rally
How it compares to bitcoin's week

While bitcoin was busy testing $80,000 three times this week, BNB was running its own, quieter version of the same story. Up first, down after, now stuck deciding what comes next.
BNB opened the week at $703.20 on Monday, part of the same broad rally that had bitcoin running toward $80,000. It slipped slightly to $698.40 on Tuesday, then pushed higher through Wednesday to $707.48. Thursday was the peak, BNB touched an intraday high of $714.88 before settling at $712.16, its strongest close of the week.
From there it reversed. By Saturday, BNB had fallen to $689.59, down 2.36% in 24 hours, with the day's range stretching from $685.51 to $707.59, a wide swing for a single session. The slide continued into the following week. Monday, 31 August, BNB closed at $686.68, down 1.09%, with its market cap slipping to $91.44 billion. That's a fall of roughly 3.6% from Thursday's peak in less than a week.
BNB is sitting at $690.58 as of this morning's Asia session, a small bounce off Monday's low but still well under the $700 mark it held for most of last week. Some trading desks are flagging a crowded setup here, positioning skewed heavily toward longs just below a level BNB hasn't been able to clear, the kind of setup that can go either way fast. Take that specific read with a grain of salt though, it comes from a single technical commentary source rather than confirmed exchange data. What's not in question is the price itself: BNB has been capped by $700 for four straight sessions now.
BNB's path from Monday's rally through this morning, built from verified data points cited in Investing.com, CoinGecko, Bybit, CoinStats and Binance-affiliated reporting.
BNB gained roughly 18% in the seven days to 25 August, breaking through seven straight weeks of consolidation resistance in a single session. Institutional positioning turned what analysts described as extremely bullish that same day, the first time this cycle, as bitcoin pushed toward $80,000 alongside it and the broader market's Fear and Greed Index hit its highest reading in months. BNB's move wasn't happening in isolation, it was riding the same wave that carried bitcoin, ether and most of the market higher that week.
Bitcoin round-tripped its entire week, opening near $77,700 and ending close to the same level after two rejections at $80,000 and change. BNB's week looks similar in shape, up early, capped near a round number, pulled back hard, but it's ending the period down close to 2% from where it started, a touch weaker than bitcoin's flat finish. For a coin still up more than 20% over the past month, that's a pause, not a reversal. Whether $700 breaks or holds over the next few sessions is the thing to watch.
