    Bitcoin Core update

Bitcoin Core 32.0 is scheduled for release on 10 October. Release candidates were made available on 14 September (rc1) and 29 September (rc2). As of 11 October, the GitHub page for the release was still in progress, and I was unable to locate a final release. The current stable release is 31.1.

    What’s in 32.0?

    •     Improved fee estimation: Added a second estimator that looks at transactions waiting in the mempool to provide more timely fee estimates.

    •     Faster block validation: Bitcoin nodes can read from their local databases on multiple threads (eight by default). This can speed up blockchain synchronisation.

    •     Security fixes: A wallet command execution bug (present since Bitcoin Core 24.0, and only if walletnotify is enabled) and a memory exhaustion bug in the new web server.

    •     PSBT version 2: Four commands that produce partially signed transactions (PSBTs) will now use version 2 of the PSBT format by default.

    •     No change to the consensus rules.

    What it means

Support: $80,434 (the low on 8 October), then $82,805 (the low on 7 October).

Resistance: $84,000 (broken on 7 October), then the week’s high of $86,995.

Upcoming: US September CPI release on 14 October and the FOMC meeting on 27 to 28 October.

Bitcoin was under selling pressure this week. The $80K level held again. ETFs flipped to inflows on Friday. There was continued buying into the dips, and Bitcoin finished the week well off the week’s lows.
