There are 197 public companies that have disclosed Bitcoin holdings. Together, they own 1,273,200 BTC worth $107.46 billion at the current price of $84,400. Bitcoin's price increased from the mid-$70,000s last week to above $84,000, and hit $86,008 on Monday. Bitcoin hasn't been that high since January.

This week, the focus has been on three public companies. First, Strive and Strategy resumed buying after not purchasing Bitcoin for a while. Next, Strive's stock increased and broke through analysts' target prices. Last, former President Trump's ethics disclosure showed he owns stock in Strategy.

President Trump discloses he owns Strategy stock (23 September)

Trump disclosed 1,156 securities transactions occurring in July on his Periodic Transaction Report (OGE Form 278-T), which was released on 22 September by the Office of Government Ethics. The report disclosed three purchases of Class A stock of Strategy (MSTR). The largest purchase was reported in the $50,000 to $100,000 range. MSTR has increased by approximately 83% from its price on 24 July. Previous disclosures by Trump reported eight transactions in Strategy during the first quarter. The White House indicates that Trump has no active role in the management of the securities, and the disclosure is required because Trump is the beneficiary of the securities. The securities are held in discretionary accounts, which are managed by investment advisors to replicate model portfolios.

An 8-K filed on 21 September by Strategy indicated purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million, an average cost of $79,670 per coin. With this purchase, Strategy's total holdings increased to 846,000 BTC. Also, in the same week Strategy repurchased 1,771,238 STRC Preferred shares for $174 million, and used $57.4 million of its separate USD Reserve to pay preferred dividends and interest on its debt. It is important to note that both the Bitcoin and STRC purchases were funded from cash on hand and were not financing purchases. The combined Bitcoin purchase and STRC buyback reduced Strategy's USD Cash balance by approximately $249.7 million to $1.05 billion. Strive also announced the purchase of 1,355 BTC for an average price of $79,475 between the 14th and 18th of this month for a total purchase price of $107.7 million. TD Cowen upped their ASST price target to $44 from $32, and increased their 2026 Bitcoin holdings estimate to 32,105 BTC from 27,156 BTC. Strive still needs 17,159 more BTC to overtake Twenty One Capital for fourth place. Strive's ATM program remained active into the final days of the week; per BitcoinTreasuries.net's trading data, its next 8-K filing will confirm whether that translated into additional Bitcoin purchases.

Top 5 Bitcoin Holding Companies

1. Strategy (MSTR) - 846,000 BTC worth $71.40 billion. Increase of 950 BTC from last week, which still only represents 4.03% of the total supply of 21 million BTC.

3. Metaplanet Inc. (MPJPY) - 43,000 BTC worth $3.63 billion. Status Quo.

Summing Up

This week, three signs converged. Strive, and later Strategy, were able to resume buying Bitcoin using cash and preferred-stock capacity built up over previous weeks, without issuing new common stock. Strive's stock rerating shows the market pricing in continued Bitcoin accumulation, and Trump's personal disclosure put Strategy's stock in a headline it didn't seek. Look for Strive's next 8-K and to see if IBIT continues its inflow streak.
